The Department of Education is one of the oldest Departments of G.K.B. College, Tamulichiga, which started functioning from 7th November 1983. It started as a core subject of B.A. course. The Department introduced the Major Course from 2004. At present the teaching members are:
- Mr. Debojit Borah, M.A., M.Phil, B.Ed, NET, Pursuing Ph. D ( Principal, i/c)
- Mr. Rajib Boruah, M.A.SET, NET (HOD)
- Mrs. Nabanita Borah, M.A., M.Phil.
Every year about 30 students are allowed to take up major course in education. About 5-6 students have been securing 1st classes every year. In the year 2015, a record number of 10 students secured 1st class in degree final examination. In order to foster academic development of students class seminers, field study etc. are held.
For the smooth functioning of co-curricular activities, a society named ‘Shikha Chora’ has been set up, comprising of teachers as well as all major students. ‘BARNAV’ is the wall magazine of the department published annually.
